Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, DSV is a leading global supplier of transport and logistics services. With offices and facilities in more than 90 countries on 6 continents, they cover their customers’ entire supply chain needs, including transportation by air, sea, and road, plus warehousing.
THE CHALLENGE
To accommodate its continuous growth, DSV built a new headquarters and logistics center in Finland that includes a range of spaces, from large rooms used for training, to small huddle spaces for brainstorming sessions. To improve productivity, DSV wanted to provide a consistent user experience for conferencing and collaboration in all 25 rooms. “When deciding what would make this project a success, my colleagues and I quickly realized that two factors were crucial,” explains Mika Kortelainen, IT Director, Finland and Baltics at DSV. “We wanted all of our employees to know exactly how to use the technology to plan and hold their meetings, no matter which room they were in.”
THE SOLUTION
With consistency in mind, Mika and his team worked with systems integrator Ictum to design intuitive and flexible meeting spaces standardized on Crestron technology.
THE TECHNOLOGY
Inside each meeting room, a Crestron Mercury tabletop UC video conferencing system provides a streamlined Skype® for Business or Microsoft Teams® software meeting experience. In the larger conferencing rooms, DM NVX™ AV-over-IP technology is being used to share content throughout the rooms. Employees can easily manage the content being shared using a Crestron touch screen or a 3-Series® Media Presentation Controller. Outside each room is a Crestron room scheduling touch screen, along with an illuminated availability sign, that enables everyone to determine whether a room is occupied or available with just a glance down the hallway. DSV’s room scheduling platform integrates seamlessly with the Crestron technology deployed throughout the office. This enables employees to simply walk up to a room and reserve it on the spot with one tap on the scheduling touch screen. They also have the option to book meetings in advance from their desks or from the app.
RESULTS
With Crestron conferencing, collaboration, and control technology serving as the backbone, DSV was able to create a workplace that merges Scandinavian design with a simple, instantly recognizable user experience in every meeting room. As a result, DSV has seen an increase in technology uptime and greater productivity and efficiency among its employees – essential to a company that prides itself on reliable, speedy delivery.
