Grass Valley, CA (September 4, 2025) – AJA Video Systems debuted IP25-R, a Mini-Converter for connecting SMPTE ST 2110 networks with 4K SDI/HDMI infrastructures. IP25-R lets broadcast, production, and AV professionals de-encapsulate SMPTE ST 2110 video, audio, and ancillary data with frame-accurate synchronization for output to baseband 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 devices, meeting a range of confidence monitoring, playout, and routing needs in hybrid settings. Featuring dual 10/25GbE network ports, two HDMI 2.0 outputs, and four 12G-SDI BNC outputs, IP25-R enables the delivery of low latency video up to 4K DCI (4096x2160p60) with advanced HDR metadata handling. International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) attendees can see the technology in action September 12-15, 2025, at the AJA Stand, 7.B19.
“SMPTE ST 2110 adoption continues to surge in media and entertainment and proAV environments, at the same time more productions are moving toward 4K, HDR workflows. Yet many professionals still have SDI and HDMI equipment that they want to incorporate into their IP pipelines,” shared AJA President Nick Rashby. “IP25-R provides an intuitive and cost-efficient way to combine the two in one environment, so that professionals can leverage IP while maximizing the life of their legacy SDI/HDMI equipment. With that flexibility and a host of other great features, this new throwdown Mini-Converter helps make IP transitions less complex.”
IP25-R’s SMPTE ST 2110 25GbE core is engineered to meet the needs of modern infrastructures while providing higher channel density. Dual SFP28 cages provide ST 2022-7 seamless protection switching for uninterrupted signal delivery across redundant IP networks in critical applications such as network operations centers (NOCs), OB trucks, remote production setups, live event monitoring, stadium and in-venue AV systems, and broadcast control rooms. Support for advanced HDR metadata handling, including SDI VPID and HDMI Infoframe signaling, streamlines HDR workflows, allowing for HDR passthrough with override using SDP file translation so professionals can accurately map HDR metadata to SDI and HDMI outputs.
An intuitive browser-based UI with in-band control over a media network or out-of-band control via an RJ45 1GbE port makes it easy to set up IP parameters, manage PTP synchronization, and configure external controls. Any one of IP25-R's four ST 2110 RX inputs can be assigned to specific SDI or HDMI outputs for flexible signal routing, while HDR metadata and colorimetry settings can be adjusted and output routing replicated internally for intuitive IP-to-baseband monitoring and signal management.
A front-facing USB-C port simplifies initial network setup, and configuration via free AJA eMini-Setup software. IP25-R features AJA’s next-generation durable aluminum enclosure design with active front-to-back cooling that integrates seamlessly into any environment or high-density rackmount installation. Three IP25-R units can be installed in just 1RU (rack unit), and with AJA’s new DRM2-Plus chassis, up to 6 IP25-Rs can be installed with the option for redundant power support.
