AMX SIMPLIFIES INTEGRATION OF TECHNOLOGY WITH RELEASE OF AUTODESK REVIT PRODUCT MODELS
Posted on Tuesday, August 25, 2009

RICHARDSON, Texas – August 25, 2009 – AMX®, the leader in providing simplified solutions in the audio/visual control industry, announced immediate availability of the first family of control technology models of AMX products used in the Autodesk® Revit® building information modeling (BIM) software. Design professionals now have access to AMX product design files which includes 2D drawings, 3D models, visual images, plus imbedded links to part/product specification data at AMX.com and via the Autodesk Seek web service. With the addition of these high-quality digital design files, design professionals will have easier access to specify technology earlier in the design phase of a buildings project.

"As the amount of technology in projects continues to increase, the need for greater collaboration between manufacturers and design teams is becoming more and more critical," said Julianne O'Connor, AMX architectural resource manager. "AMX is focused on making this process as simple as possible by offering our product information to the users of software for BIM that has been most-readily adopted by the design community."

BIM is an integrated process that allows architects, engineers and builders to explore and more clearly define a project digitally before it's built. Coordinated, reliable information is used throughout the process to design innovative projects, accurately visualize appearance for better communication, and simulate real-world performance for better understanding of important characteristics such as cost, scheduling and environmental impact. AMX commits to sustainable design by providing product data in this format for the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) community.

"It is increasingly important for design professionals and builders to be able to rely on detailed building product information as the AEC industry moves to BIM," said Jeff Wright, senior director of the Autodesk Content Network. "The addition of the AMX models to the Autodesk Seek web service is one more step in delivering the information-rich product information that design professionals require, while providing building product manufacturers with an unprecedented platform for online marketing to Autodesk's customer base".

The AMX family model of products for Revit users can be found via Autodesk Seek at http://seek.autodesk.com and on the AMX website at www.amx.com.
