AMX Innovations Focused on Enabling AV and Control over IP Networks Continue Award Streak Started at InfoComm
RICHARDSON, Texas – September 27, 2011 – AMX®, the leading provider of solutions that simplify the implementation, maintenance, and use of technology to create effective environments, announced today that two of its new products were selected as BEST Award winners by CE Pro during the 2011 CEDIA EXPO. Taking top honors in the Multi-Room Touchscreen category was the panoramic Modero® X Series Touch Panels from AMX and in the Accessories category was the new ICSLan™ Device Control Boxes.
The Modero X is a line of frameless, panoramic and widescreen touch panels featuring edge–2–edge glass, low-profile design, capacitive multi-touch and more usable space for control, applications and video. A few of the many advanced technologies that make the Modero X Series stand out include integrated high-definition camera for video chat and conferencing, Bluetooth, HD video streaming, and support for Near Field Communications technologies.
The award adds to the considerable buzz surrounding the new Modero X Series. Julie Jacobson, editor of CE Pro, in a recent article, described the Modero X as, "one of the first interesting touchscreens to hit the market in many years."
Another buzz-worthy solution from AMX to win the BEST Award was the ICSLan Device Control Boxes. These compact units allow devices not typically Ethernet enabled – including projectors, displays, lighting and shades, to be connected to an Ethernet network via a single twisted pair cable for remote management using an Enova DGX platform or any NetLinx ® Controller. Virtually any device controlled by IR, RS-232, I/O or relays can be connected to an IP network and managed, regardless if the device is in the next room or across the globe. Since they are native NetLinx, programming is easy; no special codes or commands are needed.
Already named one of 10 Automation Products for Your Next Install by Commercial Integrator magazine, the ICSLan Device Control Boxes are a simple and cost effective solution to simplify the management of the "whole" building and "whole" home.
Both the Modero X and the ICSLan Device Control Boxes are members of the award-winning family of Enova DGX Digital Media Switchers. As IP increasingly becomes the network of choice for consumers, the Enova DGX 16 and 32 Digital Media Switchers provide the ideal backbone for commercial and residential deployments. They include a built-in controller and Gigabit Ethernet switch. With the technology in the Enova DGX 16 and 32 HDCP-key issues are automatically solved, as are other snags that riddle contemporary digital media deployments.
"Trends driving today's growth in residential AV are streamed music and audio, cloud services and integrated home control," says AMX Director of Product Management Shaun Robinson. "We're pleased that the judges of the CE Pro BEST Awards recognize AMX's new breed of solutions that deliver all these capabilities in a single, integrated architecture."
The winners of the CE Pro BEST Awards were chosen by a panel of industry experts, integrators and the editors of CE Pro and Electronic House, to join an exclusive group of products deemed the most noteworthy for 2011. Criteria include innovation, functionality, competitive advantages and benefits to the installer.
"CE Pro received nearly 200 product entries this year," states Jason Knott, editor-in-chief, CE Pro. "The quality of entrants was exceptional, and the voting was tight in many instances."
