As Interest in Smart, Connected, Green Buildings Intensifies, IBcon Assembles World's Foremost Authorities for Summit

LAS VEGAS – June 13, 2012 – AMX®, the leading provider of solutions that simplify the implementation, maintenance, and use of technology to create effective environments, announced today that Michael Carter has been appointed to the Intelligent Buildings Conference Advisory Council. The Intelligent Buildings Conference (IBcon) is a global symposium and tradeshow dedicated to bringing together all aspects of what has become known as the Intelligent Building.

As Director of Integrated Building Solutions at AMX, Mike Carter leads a team of sales and engineering specialists focused on developing customized, enterprise solutions for media management, distribution and environment automation. Mike and his team assist Fortune 500, Government and Education clients, as well as consultants and integrators globally, to develop practices and deploy solutions which seamlessly integrate the control and monitoring of previously disparate building systems to streamline operations, reduce expenses, improve energy efficiency, and a variety of other benefits.

Mike has over 30 years of experience in technology leadership roles spanning consulting, sales, engineering, installation and integration. Prior to joining AMX in 1995, Mike was responsible for overseeing systems integration at EDS. His strong IT background and understanding of technology convergence trends provide a foundation which is critical to his strategic role as an innovator at AMX, focusing on IP-based custom control, distribution, and management solutions for LAN, WAN, and enterprise environments.

As Carter explains it, "Buildings today incorporate an astonishing array of systems and technologies that in most cases are deployed, operated, and managed independently of one another. To get the most value from these systems, a comprehensive and easy to use control and management system is essential. Control and automation systems, like those from AMX, can connect systems and devices throughout an environment on one platform for not only optimized efficiencies and significant cost savings, but simpler management." Carter said he was honored by the IBcon appointment and looked forward to helping drive the dialogue on this critical initiative.

Intelligent buildings utilize tools like control and automation systems to fully network unrelated building infrastructure systems such as lighting, HVAC, water, electrical, data, security and audio-visual to achieve interoperability across all systems. This enables a collective collaboration of systems to maximize energy and operational efficiencies. Building intelligence has become an almost requisite component of the real estate market and has risen to top-of-mind significance.

With the rocketing interest in intelligent buildings, the IBcon conference was established to serve as a comprehensive resource for the building design and construction industry. A main feature of the IBcon Conference will be its advisory council.

According to their Web site, "IBcon has assembled domain experts from around the globe" to "present the most comprehensive, innovative, state-of-the-art and relevant content. From the most complex technical discussions to the all-important organizational realignment issues, this world-class group of professionals represents the most significant body of thought leaders on the topic of open architected, interoperable and integrated IP-based smart, connected, high performance and intelligent buildings."

Carter is active on the boards of several Industry Associations as an advisor or steering committee member and is currently on the InfoComm Smart Building Task Force, the Continental Automated Buildings Association's (CABA) Intelligent & Integrated Buildings Council (IIBC) and a former member of the InfoComm Standards Steering Committee and InfoComm Power Switching Task Force.

The inaugural IBcon event will be co-located with the Realcomm 2012 Conference in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Hotel, June 13-14.
