Commitment to Community: A Look Back at the Biamp PDX Jazz Festival 2021

March 11, 2021 - 2021 was a truly extraordinary year for the Biamp PDX Jazz Festival. While most performances were watched through a screen rather than at the many historic venues the festival usually occupies, the line-up delivered a dynamic and vibrant representation of Portland’s arts community. Below we’ve shared some of our favorite moments, as at Biamp, we are continually committed to connecting to the communities where we live, work and play.

Thomas Lauderdale and China Forbes of Pink Martini

Thomas Lauderdale and China Forbes of Pink Martini kicked off this year’s festival in style with an intimate live-streamed show at Biamp HQ. Throughout their hour-long live cast, the duo showcased the breadth of their work from their 25-year career. This was a first ever act of its kind hosted at Biamp, but it definitely will not be the last.

Arietta Ward

Another festival highlight was with a sultry performance by Arietta Ward at the Jack London Revue, one of Portland largest jazz venues, on Tuesday, February 21st. While the sea of usual concertgoers was replaced by multiple video tracks for this 100% livestreamed exclusive production, Ward’s signature soulful tone and energic stage presence came through.

Michelle Medler Trio

The festival ended on a high note with the only live show by the Michelle Medler Trio on Friday, February 26th at Portland’s glamourous Nines Hotel. Stunning modern architecture in the vaulted atrium served as the stage for a blend of jazz and funk jams.

Since 2017, Biamp has been a proud sponsor of the PDX Jazz Festival and we’re so honored to be a part of this unique showcase. To learn more about our community partnership, visit us at: https://www.biamp.com/company/community-involvement
