Midas PRO6 moves into corporate events with first UK sale

Communications company drpgroup has purchased the first Midas PRO6 live audio system to be sold into the British corporate events market. The sale confirms the PRO6’s flexibility in adapting to different applications and markets in addition to live sound and touring, which has rapidly adopted it in its first year.

Established almost 30 years ago, drpgroup has grown into one of Europe's largest and most experienced fully integrated communication and presentation organisations. Until four years ago all equipment was dry-hired, but the company has undertaken a concerted investment programme, building up a state-of-the-art inventory to which the PRO6 is the latest addition.

drpgroup took the decision to purchase the PRO6 having outgrown its previous digital console within a year of buying it. “After having a PRO6 on demo, we took the decision that we needed one immediately,” says Ian Ruhback, drpgroup’s head of sound. “Everything is instantly accessible and nothing is menu-based. A lot of the other digital consoles we have encountered use menu-based systems which don’t really suit our purposes. The content of the conferences and events we produce often requires a really quick turnaround; things are always changing and we don’t have time to go through overly complicated menus. Any system we use has to be very user friendly, and the PRO6’s POP groups make it an even more accessible device. In my opinion, because the PRO6 uses XL8 technology it’s definitely the best sounding digital desk on the market.”

The PRO6 was used on a small managers’ briefing for Thomas Cook before being deployed on its first major event – a 5,000-delegate Sainsbury’s conference at the NEC.
