KT TUNSTALL TO JUDGE NEW CREATIVE AWARD SPONSORED BY SHURE, THE INSTITUTE OF CONTEMPORARY MUSIC PERFORMANCE AND PLAYMUSIC GROUP

NILES, IL, May 20, 2008 – Best-selling artist KT Tunstall has announced that she will judge the final selection for an innovative new award for aspiring singer-songwriters in the UK – the Shure Creative Award, which will be sponsored by Shure Distribution UK, the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance and Play Music Pickup magazine.

Applicants will be required to upload a video of themselves performing an original song on any instrument to the website www.shurecreativeaward.com, which will be live beginning May 30, 2008.  All entries will be judged by the general public and a panel of experts. Tunstall will pick the final winners.

The winner will have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to professionally develop his or her musical talent and skills, including the opportunity to perform in live showcase events in London, by receiving a free scholarship for the Institute’s one-year Higher Diploma course in London, which will commence on October 6, 2008.  This prize is worth almost $10,000.

Two runners-up will receive the opportunity to attend the same course at a discounted cost and prizes from the competition sponsors.

“It's important that the art of songwriting is respected just as much as the ability to perform and play on stage,” said Tunstall about the competition. “It's about time there was a competitive platform for young songwriters to win the chance to spend a year honing their craft. It's a great opportunity.”

Applicants can upload their videos to www.shurecreativeaward.com beginning May 30, 2008.  The contest closes on July 13, 2008.   For further details on entry guidelines, terms and conditions, or for further information visit www.shurecreativeaward.com.
