Crestron provides ISA International Student Games technology, expertise and leadership

ROCKLEIGH, NJ, October 13, 2008 — Crestron is a sponsor of the 2008 ISA International Student Games taking place at the Reliant Center in Houston on October 13 and 14 as part of the ISA EXPO 2008. The ISA is a non-profit organization of engineers, technicians, and others who work in the field of instrumentation, measurement, and control of industrial processes, that helps its 30,000 worldwide members and other automation professionals solve challenging technical problems. The competition provides an opportunity for ISA Student Members worldwide to demonstrate and further their knowledge of automation and control technologies.

As a manufacturer participating in the event, Crestron has developed a “problem” for the student teams to solve, donated the necessary equipment to execute the problem, and provided instruction regarding the equipment to both the competing teams and event staff.  In addition to Crestron, three other manufacturers are also participating: ABB Analytical, Phoenix Contact and Siemens Energy & Automation.

Twelve international teams from Canada, Russia, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, and across the US are competing. Each team of four is presented technical problems by each participating manufacturer, and given 45 minutes to solve the problem. The problem providers evaluate the performance of each team as it works their problem. The teams are graded on criteria such as accuracy, efficiency and procedure. Then, the judges combine their scores and identify the order of performance.

The ISA International Student Games have developed into a signature program of practical, hands-on exercises related to the field of automation and control. Crestron is proud to support the ISA, a leading, global, nonprofit organization that is helping members and other professionals solve difficult technical problems, while enhancing their leadership and personal career capabilities.
